March is . . .

Daffodils -- or, botanically speaking, the entire genus of narcissus -- are one of the most delightful things about March in England.

All year long, they lurk under the ground . . .
and by mid-March there are clumps of yellow everywhere.

Very cheering, don't you think?

So cheery! The crocus are popping up now, so the yellow spring lovelies can't be far behind.

BEAUTIFUL, Bee! These are a sight for my winter-sore eyes...We still have snow here. But the promise of spring is here, and birds are singing their love songs. :o) Happy Spring ((HUGS))

VERY cheering!

The winter was a long one here in the north eastern part of America. It's been a long slog to spring and we've yet to see the daffodils. Seeing your beautiful flowers (and muddy boots!) gives me hope that it won't be long.

Thanks for the hope!

I find the chrome yellow ones utterly thrilling at first sight.

The Daffodil is the official flower of our city, although we call them Jonquils here. They are everywhere and we love them. But I have to say, the daffodils in St. James Park remain my absolute favourites!
Happy Spring, Bee!!

I do indeed. And what I really like is how when you buy a bunch of the first early ones in the supermarket, you aren't really sure what they will look like when open; always different, all lovely.

Howick Hall in Northumberland has a daffodil walk in Spring, with a vast collection of different types, some very old indeed, and quite beautiful.

This is exactly what I needed to see today. I just checked the mailbox, and it was snowing. Your daffs are delightful I enjoyed the composition with the wellies at center.

Indeed so cheering! We have masses and masses here in our new garden, but mostly hidden in 'the forrest' (as the children call it) which is an old, formal garden now hideously grown over. I should just pick them for the house but it seems wrong somehow.

I was just thinking today that I must take lots of photos now so I know where the daffs are, or rather where the gaps are, so I know where to plant bulbs to fill in in the Autumn. but then my camera is broken, CRY, so I can't.

Bee--

What lovely images you shared! I was delighted yesterday to spot the first daffodil blooming at the back of my yard where they line the fence---last year they popped up in snow, but it was all clear and 80 degrees, a well-deserved spring day after the record-breaking blizzard that encased them for months. It prompted me to tour the rest of the yard for other signs of life and it looks like my first attempt at hydrangeas may yield a second year after an iffy start in a temperamental Midwestern summer.

Do keep the floral photos coming; they are uplifting and inspiring after the dismal throes of winter.

Lovely photos! It's currently snowing right now in Minnesota, so I will be enjoying my spring vicariously through others for the moment! Thank you for sharing those wonderful colors.

Daffies and wellies. What a delightfully springy duo. Mine just opened today. I'd forgotten how beautiful they are.

I love daffys - I have a big bowl of them right next to me. I especially love those that are white with orange in the center - I don't think I've every seen one that color. It is still snowing here. :-(

I love seeing bright yellow in nature! Could there possibly be anything more cherry? Lovely photos.

We are in the middle of the ugliest time of year in CT. March and early April are ugly, brown, and bare. No snow to cover the bareness and no flowers and buds yet to cheer. Thankfully, every other time of the year is gorgeous.

I just bought daffodils (they don't pop up here of their own accord) for my daughter's birthday tea party. They were only about a dollar a bunch at Trader Joe's! So lovely!

Yes, I love it Bee!!! Best of all, those boots. I am in the market for wellies and am amazed at how many variations are on offer in England! Decsisions, decisions...love your photo collage :)

PS...Something about you and Marion, I am always getting you mixed up, you two must be soul sisters :)

I love them, though I'm sorry I bought so many exotic kinds that don't naturalize well.

Daffodils just lift the spirit, don't they? Life is sweeter when the daffodils start blooming.
