  1. In case of fire
    do not use elevator:
    instead use the stairs.

  2. Such joy.
I hope the peony was in your own garden.
I love it when all the little ant crawl over the tight tight buds.

  3. I lost an 's' above...sorry.

  4. Beautiful Haiku Bee!!
It allowed me to be part of the Peony life too.
    I cherish the Peony as
Here they do not grow. Only one bloomed ever that I know of this year. Our friend gave it to my mother as a gift.

Have a fun time today. Thank you for organizing this event with Elizabeth.

  5. That's absolutely brilliant, Bee! I'm so impressed.

(I struggled quite stupidly to come up with a haiku. My brain rebelled most horribly while trying to do this shorthand poetry!)

  6. Such loveliness and a beautiful tribute to spring glory unfurling, Bee! Your photos fit seamlessly with the poem and really enhance the experience. So glad you joined us...and so nice to meet you! :o) Happy Days...

    Peace.

  10. Great Haiku. Do you have peonies already in England?

  11. You are a busy, creative lady.
    Love the words, "fresh shock."

  12. Beautiful pics as always and love the haiku. The flower reference reminds me of Pound's haiku-like lines "The apparition of these faces in the crowd. Petals on a wet, black, bough".

  13. Chairman Bill - Is that yours? Did the word "hot" make you think of it?

    Lisa - Thank you!

Elizabeth - Yes, the peony is in my garden. I look forward to them every year.

Rochambeau - I am surrounded by Norwegian themes at the moment, so it is lovely to include you.

Tessa - Yes, it is surprisingly hard! I changed the middle verse several times. I also thought of "alchemy of sun and earth," but I think there is meant to be an action in the middle verse.

Poetikat - Good word choice; thank you.

Tracy - Thank you . . . and I really enjoyed visiting you as well.

Golden West - Again, my thanks.

Stephanie - Yes, I wish that I could have caught that tight green bud before the pink bursts forth . . . but I wasn't quick enough. I hope yours bloom soon. What color?

Jennifer - Which makes the haiku the perfect poetic form . . .

Butternut Squash - Isn't it? I usually favor pastels; and these don't really "go" with the rest; but I can't resist them.

The Clever Pup - Yes, we do; in fact, most of them peaked this week. They bloom with the wisteria, lilac and clematis -- and make up one of the nicest three week periods in the garden.

Beth - I try! But I am also lady of the laundry and the roast dinner.

bluepete - Thanks for sharing those lines . . . they are wonderful.

    it lurks inside
    until the poet finds it...

Gorgeous, both the image and the haiku.

    Lea - Thank you!

Allegra - How nice to offer me a haiku in return!

Lisa - Sure. I'd like to give an oasis of calm and peonies.

    Shell - Thank you.

Catalyst - I didn't realize that they would grow in such a cold climate. Interesting.

Deniz - Can you think of a more glorious May subject?

Margaret - Thanks so much. Straight from my garden.

Reya - I did that yesterday, too. I like the way everyone does something slightly different with the assignment.

La Belette Rouge - They are one of my favorites, too -- for all the reasons that you describe.

  35. Nice. I like haiku, though not great at it. I will offer this:

    The cold rain rustles
    Like autumn wind in leaves
    Kneading the burnt street
